Can commercial tie-dye artists work together?

This is a daring experiment for all tie-dye artists.

I had noticed that there is a tight-knot group of tie-dye artist who dye for the fun of it and just for themselves or family. As somebody who does tie-dye commercially I was often greeted with suspicion. One site - tie-dyewiki.com even banned me because I had posted a link to a commercial site. I had my ban lifted after promising not to spam any more though.

This is where I had the idea of "Tie-dyers of the world unite!" So I thought of this web site to develop value for a visitor shopping for some tie-dye by giving him a place where he or she can find anything tie-dye.

Obviously there will be some competition between tie-dye artists based on an idea of scarcity that the number of customers is limited. But I believe that we can build a strong community which will draw more visitors and possibly create customers that otherwise might not have considered tie-dye - if we can only show what a great variety of items tie-dye artists have to offer.

For the customers this can be very useful, as he or she has one place only to go to, to find all different kinds of tie-dyes. And think of all the people who come by just to see what this excitement is all about, we are able to show that there is something available that he or she might not have considered before actually seeing it.

So, I hope we all pull together and create a new awareness that tie-dye is something to recon with, that it is something for hippies but there is also a modern side that can attract all kinds of visitors.

I want to also invite the members of the close-knit group of DIY tie-dyers and see what they have to say. Some of us might have started with just doing a weekend project dyeing some t-shirts - and now we are commercial tie-dyers. The first to invite in this category is definitely THE authority for all kinds of dyeing on the web - Dr. Paula Burch.

Best of luck,
Merlin

And here now the first commercial web sites I (have) invite(d) to come and set up a booth in this virtual trade show:

Beside setting up your profile (and I would suggest to use your name here, not your business) it is more important to create a page or pages for your business. In these pages you add categories which will add your pages to the link "Categories" over there on the left - for the search engines to find.

I offer the site Thaidye.com as a sample oh how you could set up your booth, but don't feel restricted, you can use all that this Wiki has to offer - and that is a lot as you can see on the Wikipedia site. Currently the above sites are featured sites (in a way) with a direct link to their place on the web. When a site also has a booth on this wiki, we can add an internal link to that booth also - as show for Thaidye.

Head over to the link 'Help' on the left to find out more on how this Wiki works.

Any questions - send me an email.
